Win a Sewing Machine?

Why would I like to win a sewing machine? Why would I like to win a Babylock Melody?

Because Babylock is one of the top names in sewing. Because having a new machine is ALWAYS fun. Because if I had another machine it would make it so easy to teach my daughter to sew. Because frankly... I'm a sewing addict :)

So if you want to win one too, go visit Amy's Creative Side, during the Blogger's Quilt Festival!

Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2013

It's that time of year! The semi-annual Blogger's Quilt Festival, hosted by Amy's Creative Side, is one of my Favorite times of year. Not only does it coincide with the Quilt Fest tradeshow and news about new lines of fabric, it also puts together an amazing community of online quilting bloggers. The inspiration is endless!

This time around I would like to showcase my Color Shard Quilt. I am tremendously proud of this quilt, and love that it's a rainbow of scraps that are meaningful to me. Scraps from when I first started quilting. Favorite little snippets, and reminders of how far I've come with my sewing. Plus, it's such a cheerful quilt!

Finished size: 51"x 67"... ROYGBIV category, Scrappy category, Home machine quilted category, throw quilt category

Madrona Triangle Quilt

I realized I haven't posted my finished triangle quilt!

I started this quilt in August and finished in September. I'm a pretty motivated project-finisher, and this was no exception since I had a deadline to hang it at my local gym. I know, I know... it doesn't seem like a gym would be a good place to hang a quilt, but this is not your average gym. It's a womens-only gym, locally owned, and happens to have decor that exactly matches the warm Madrona Road pallette... see?

I do love the way it turned out and it's a pretty big quilt, almost twin size and certainly generous enough for a twin bed. If I had it to do over, though, I would have included more prints from the line to balance it out a little better. As it is, I included a print from the pick a bunch fabric that I had leftover from this quilt.

I am really happy with the triangle pattern, I first saw it here, and loved the way all of the Chicopee triangle quilts looked. I might have to do one just like that for my own bed!

Bright Lights, Big City

I'm from New York state. Not New York city, but like many states in the union, people from NY have lots of state pride. Growing up, I spent time in NYC every year and though I am not a city person I have love in my heart for the Big Apple. Lots of love. So when I saw this fabric... HAD. to. have. it.

And you know, at this time last year I was on a pretty big bag-making kick. I still love to make bags, but I'm big time in a quilt phase. I'm not intimidated by quilts anymore and find making something big to be really very satisfying. Plus, I hear it's going to be a long cold winter, so why not something warm and cozy?

This quilt would make a really awesome gift for someone out there, if you're interested in purchasing it, go to my etsy shop!
