Bike Basket round 2

Well, it was time. Time for a new bike basket. Because three years after my first bike basket(s), my younger kid is now riding a bike!

Here's where scrap packs from Hawthorne Threads came in very handy. I used three from a "Fresh" pack, and used fabric I otherwise might not ever have cut into. Although... those Trees in cream are pretty awesome. I'm a sucker for tree fabrics.

My original notes on the pattern are still relatively true. The curved bucket bottom is a little big compared to the rectangular peices, which made for some puckering at the bottom of the bucket. It's not perfect. (Is anything, ever?). But it's totally functional and now I KNOW it will hold up well, because the one I made for Lili is still going strong (and has been transferred to her THIRD bike!).

It took me less than 2 hours to make this time. My sewing skilz have way improved since the last time (three years ago! OMG!).

Welcome to the Glorious Chaos! said...
My favorite color right now is aqua, it feels beachy to me :)

I will be emailing the winner shortly, but y'all stay tuned, because now that I have surpassed 100 followers, I think I'll have to do another giveaway. I have stash to bust anyway!!!

Scamper Quilt

My latest quilt is an organic confection - a herringbone design made in Birch Fabrics' Scamper line of fabric.

I'll admit that the yellow is a little brighter than I would have liked, but the end result is fun and edgy. Great for an active little kid :)

I am most happy with the quilting - sometimes simple is better, and this time a solid flannel back really shows off the chevron quilt pattern. I'm beyond happy with how it turned out.

After a pre-wash it will be ready to send off to the store!

Glimma SuperTote

The lovely Anna over at Noodle-head has released another wonderful bag pattern, and I'm lucky to have been able to test it for her.

This bag is called the SuperTote and it indeed is big! With the gusset, it measures approx 18"x18". A great carry-all, summer beach tote, farmer's market tote... the list goes on.

I made the bag in Lotta Jansdotta's new Glimma Home Dec weight, and I just love the scandinavian feel of it! I am also, of course, a sucker for tree fabrics so there you have it:

The bag has a wonderful front slip pocket with magnetic or velcro closure options. The pocket is trimmed with piping, and that really gives it a wonderful finished look.

There is a recessed zip top, and the interior boasts two generous elasticized pockets. One of my very fit friends says this would make a great gym bag, with plenty of room and separation for shoes and water bottles, etc.

So, if I've gotten you this far... go check out the pattern, you wil be sure to love Anna's clear and precise patterns and classic designs!
