SMS Giveaway #1

Post update - winner is #41 - "Michelle Olsen" who is apparently going to go all OCD on these scraps :)

looking for my other SMS Giveaways? look no further... giveaway #2 .... giveaway #3

Yes! It's that time of year again... time for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day! This giveaway day certainly helped me get my stash going - the first time I participated I won a great selection of scraps from Ducks and Rabbits, so in honor of that first fateful SMS win, I am going to give away a (ahem) rather large box of scraps. In all honesty, I got a little overwhelmed with the mess in my sewing space and the scraps just have to go! It's a great selection of prints and some solids, and even a spool of ribbon in there too. Some juvenile prints, some modern, some funky. Mostly quilting cottons but some home dec thrown in there too.

I'm not guaranteeing any sizes in there, though you will find both large and small. Probably not as big as a FQ, but I'm sure there are some quarter yard cuts. I'm also totally not going to organize it. Sorry, but you'll have fun sifting through the goodies, I swear!

What are you going to DO with all these scraps? Well, you could make a few of Noodlehead's zip pouches. Or do one of these cool circle pouches. Or... make a scrappy quilt! Join Rachel over at Stitched in Color for a new year scrappy event. Whatever you do, make sure you have fun with it :)

Details...
- Leave me ONE comment. It can be whatever you want, but for fun let me know why you want scraps. Building your stash? Like to have play around fabric? Just a fabric hoarder? I want to know.
- You don't have to follow my blog to enter, but take a look around - if you like what you see, I'm happy to have new followers.
- Due to shipping costs, this giveaway is for US residents only - but check my other giveaways for international chances!
- As per the SMS guidelines, this giveaway will be open until December 16, 2011 8pm EST
- Winner will be announced AND contacted by December 18, and I will ship it out within 24 hours of receiving an address.
- PLEASE leave me a way to contact you if you are a no reply blogger. If I have no way to contact you, I'll choose someone else!

SMS Giveaway day is F.U.N... go check out the other giveaways and have a blast!

I'm a scrap freak! I collect them from all over. People send them to me, I buy them off Ebay... I'm an addict. That being said - I do use my scraps to make scrap quilts. I'm working on the latest Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt now.

Laurel09 said...

Oh, this would be SO FUN! I was thinking about doing my first srappy string quilt this year, so a big box of scraps would be perfect!

I use a lot of scraps making benefit quilts. I also make zipper pouches as gifts. Thanks for the link to the little round zipper bag! Merry Christmas!

I'm thinking about all the things I could make with these. Little zip pouches, bias binding for a cute top, patch pockets on a skirt, and on and on...

I never met a scrap box I didn't like! It's fun to make yourself come up with new ideas for using up the little leftover bits :)

I like fabric...and I just saw some neat ideas for using them to make "crumb" blocks! I am going to look more into that in the future, so more scraps would not hurt! I might be a tiny bit of a hoarder when it comes to fabric...

Stephanie said...

I'm a total fabric hoarder. I like making yoyos and fabric flowers for hair clips or embellishments, so some of those scraps would surely go toward that. I also do doll clothes occasionally.

I'm definitely a scrap hoarder, although I have donated many a bag of scraps to the Girl Scouts. Really, I just love digging through other people's cast offs. It's so much fun.

Wow - three giveaways?! You are so generous! This box of scraps is my favorite of the three - I love the idea of receiving such a fun, colorful grab bag/box! I am just getting into sewing and would love these scraps for building my stash and giving me some creative inspiration!

I would like scraps because I'm still quite new to sewing and my "scrap stash" is woeful. I actually love all the scrap buster style projects but I'm only just starting to have enough pieces to make them without cutting into new yardage for tiny little squares!

Fabric hoarder checking in! I love scraps. I love the idea of making something work with what you have. If I won these, I would make all manner of patchwork projects, quilts, pillows, and definitely some pouches. So glad to have found your blog, I love your creations!

I made some of those circle pouches for earbuds. Very easy project and a great use for scraps!
I have enough fabric in my life but find I suffer from serious scrap envy for other people cast-offs. I am really getting into sewing scraps into a bigger piece of fabric to cut purses from and utilizing raw- edge applique.

Joy said...

I want scraps for both the Farmer's Wife quilt that's been on hold for (too long now) and for bits and bobs to go as clothing for dolls or stuff like that. Toys!

Michelle Olsen said...

I want to make a bottled rainbows quilt eventually, so scraps are great, and this is the holy grail of scraps. I'm really glad you aren't going to organize them because if I win, I am the type of person who sorts them into multiple categories, irons them all, folds them carefully, and stows them in labeled bags in a bin in tidy little rows. Just a bit OCD :)

I had the most glorious stash accumulated and I developed rheumatoid arthritis and wasn't able to sew anymore. I gave my entire sewing collection (hubby says mess) to a good friend (no wonder she loves me!) and now 12 years later I've gotten the worst under control where I have good days and bad days and on the good days I want to sew. Now I need STUFF! Scraps are my inspiration!

I LOVE scraps, and I especially love the adventure of sifting through the box for the first time! I like to use pretty scraps paired with plain linen to make pouches and things. Thanks so much for the chance at your giveaway!

Cricket said...

If I'm completely honest, I just want to have the pleasure of sorting through all your wonderful little scraps. But after that, I will make at least one hexagon out of each pattern, as I do with all the fabric that comes through my house. My ultimate goal is to make a full size hand stitched hexi quilt that I will give to one of my daughters for a wedding present. My girls are only 8 and 4, so hopefully I will have enough time to finish. And with any luck, maybe each girl will have one.

Mom C said...

I have made some fun crazy patch quilts from random pulling fabric out of my pieces box and making them fit.
