Mira, you are one year old today. I am amazed.
Here's how we celebrated your first birthday...
A normal wakeup time, followed by a breakfast of pancakes and blueberries. As usual, all you wanted were the blueberries.
A quiet morning at home with a lot of playing and trying for a nap.
Lunch, and then going to the Halloween Festival with Mama and Lili. This is just the start of your day being intertwined with the holiday. I hope you like costumes (and candy!)
Then, home, and an unusual family nap from 3:30-5:30.
We had a Mira friendly dinner of tortellini and green beans. As usual, all you wanted were the noodles.
You got some fun presents! A walker wagon, a ball drop toy, and a picture album. You loved all of them, and especially the picture of Lili making a very funny face.
A walk around the neighborhood (to look at the Halloween decorations).
Carrot cake, the same as Lili had on her first birthday. You had two peices.
And a late bed time (due to the family nap).
We had a wonderful, calm birthday day with you and are so glad that you are part of our family.
Here are a few things I think of your first year...
I will never forget how loud and how long you screamed when you first came out. And it seems like it didn't stop for at least 3 months. We are happy you have such a big personality, but those first months were long and hard. Your face when you cry now looks exactly the same as your crying face when you were first born. And now I can kind of laugh about it. At 6 months, you started to make our life easier and really show your expression. You have so many funny faces and you are so good at communicating with us. You have always loved being outside. Always, even from the beginning, going for a walk would always calm you down. You love to dance, and jump. You call yourself "dada" and we laugh at that so much that it is now one of our family jokes. You and Lili get along so well, you love each other, take care of each other, and make each other laugh. You love to talk, and it is never quiet around here when you are awake. You didn't love nursing, and you love to drink from a bottle. You love your blankie and your pacifier. And taking a bath. You know how to say "poop". You love getting dressed, especially putting on your socks and shoes. Dogs are your favorite animal. You are very opinionated. Your favorite things to eat are blueberries, noodles, and avocado. We let you eat ice cream when you were seven months old.
You are smart, and beautiful, and I love you.
