I felted!

Crafty Mommy strikes again! I have officially completed my first crochet and felted project!!! I am so stoked. This hat was from a class I took abut a month ago, and the crochet was fun. Downsides compared to knitting is that it is pretty impossible to crochet without looking, so no TV while I was working on it. Upsides is that there's so much less hardware to deal with, and it goes super fast!

So, here is the hat after crochet completion, prior to felting:

And I can't believe I got the courage to actually felt something! Post felted hat, fits the girl perfectly:

And, for those who care, it was done with Frog Tree Alpaca, which I highly recommend!

Boo Ya!

Oh, we are having so much fun this weekend. The forecast had called for rain, but in true northeastern fashion, it has been beautiful. We're having a blast with Gina, and will be so sad when she leaves! Lilian truly has a new best friend, and I truly don't mind the company, or the help!!! Can I get a holla'?

Saturday morning we all rode bikes to the waterfront, where KidsDay was happenin'. Lilian was overwhelmed most of the time, but was not at all afraid of the people dressed as Bears, or Gumby. She loves activity, but I think this was too much for her. Lots of free stuff, though, and that's never a bad thing!

This morning we decided to go for an "easy" hike at Mt Philo. It was steeper than we expected, seeing as how a 7+ month pregnant friend of mine was the one recommending it AND she carried her 3 year old up most of the way! I was definitely not expecting any steepness, but now I say GO GIRL, cause I never could have done that pregnant. Beautiful, Beautiful views at the top and a fun time because the weather could not have been more perfect. Now? We are waiting for the babe to wake up so that we can go to the Chocolate Factory!!!

Day of Rest

Whew! We have had quite a couple of weeks! After the bike tour, Lili and I hung out in Long Island for a couple of days before heading to the Boston area with my Mom to visit my brother and Alicia (Jo MaMa). After a really quick visit there, we drove (9 hours, including stops!!!) to Potsdam where we had some relaxation before Margot's mega graduation weekend. We were pretty beat by the end but happy to have crammed in all that family time. Now we are back in Burlington and about to head out to Montreal to pick up Gina!!! Man, I love the summer. It's just filled with fun, eh?

After a tremendously busy 10 days or so, Lilian needed a rest with her new "babies":

Potsdam in full bloom

It is springtime in Potsdam and there are a billion blooms out. Lili and I are enjoying relaxing here and helping my mom garden a bit. Margot's graduation is this weekend! We are excited to have two grandmoms in one place at the same time!

Boro'ed it

We did it! Accomplished the Five Boro Bike Tour. 42 Miles, with plenty of bike traffic jams (this is New York City, after all). It started out a wet and chilly day but got sunny and beautiful by the end. We had a great time and enjoyed being a part of the 30,000 cyclists on the road yesterday!

Baking Bonanza

This afternoon has been a frenzy of baking. We made chocolate chip cookies for Keith to bring to work (company BBQ), and apple cinnamon scones because... well, just because I discovered how easy they are to make and I'm loving figuring out different flavors (I started with orange/cranberry/corn scones). Lilian has been cooking up a storm herself, mixing together crackers and cereal in a little colander. She got adventurous (as did I) with a butter knife and some craisins. She loves to imitate grown up stuff. Anyway, feast with your eyes!

reeeeaaach for those cookies!
