Today was free scoop day at Ben and Jerry's, and so Lili and I decided to take a little field trip to their Waterbury Plant for the factory tour. It is only about a half an hour from here, and really would be worth it on a sunny day, because they have a pretty awesome playground there. But we went for the tour, which Lilian was very disruptive for because she couldn't stop talking. They were making two flavors today: cinnamon bun and cookie dough. We didn't stop to sample and left the tour early to get our free cones. I had the creme brulee flavor (very very delicious), and Lili had her own (!) cake batter flavor. She felt it was very much worth the drive.

Her favorite part was turning the handle on the penny machine there, and for awhile after we left she would say "turn, turn, turn, and then the money fall out!". Very cute.

I neglected to bring the camera to this endeavor, so all you get is a picture of the schwag from the tour (sorry, no pics of ice cream!).

PS Ultra bonus? All three of us hit up the B&J at the mall after dinner for another round of free scoops!

Weekend update

Have a cold. It sucks, but working through it. Got a haircut. It looks great.

Explored the north end of downtown. Found a vietnamese restaurant and a neat re-use clothing shop.

Biked to Shelburne Farms (with said cold!), got a membership.

Worked at City Market.

Found a house we would consider buying, maybe.

Went to see baby cows at Shelburne Farms.

Made scones (my own yummy recipe!!!)

This past weekend, Lili and her friend Q participated in the Spring Photo Shoot at a local store and though I do feel I have taken better pictures, here's one that was too cute not to share.

Matzo Ball Mood Swing

Omi and Lee were visiting for the past couple of days. We had a nice time with them, though Lili was a little sleep deprived today and therefore extremely moody. Highlights were the Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory, and house hunting (for everybody!). Lowlights were the meltdown today before dinner. Best ever? Lili LOVED loved loved Omi's Matzo Ball Soup! Happy Passover indeed.

So, our little sleep deprived girl was dragged all over the place this afternoon, and right before dinner Keith decided we should go buy a trike because Lili loved the trikes at the house we went to see today. I realized this probably wasn't a good idea, but I'll never turn down a shopping excursion, especially when it involves new toys. Fun trying trikes in the store, but a total meltdown when we had to leave without the floor model trike. It only got worse at home. At one point, all she had on was her diaper and a helmet. But, after she got control of herself (half an hour can seem like forever), she thoroughly enjoyed eating lots and lots and lots of freshly made Matzo Ball Soup. We ended the day on a great note, and got her to bed early.

Lilian has finally figured out how to eat a sandwich. We have been trying to teach her that to eat a sandwich you do NOT take out all of the contents and smear them around the table. You also do not take a bite and then proceed to spit it out. You should instead, take a bite, chew, swallow, and then take another bite. Simple, no?

She figured it out today! All it took was some cheap-o Friehofers soft wheat bread. We had toasted cheese sandwiches, and Lilian's was cut into quarters for easier handling. Surprisingly enough, she preferred crust bites over center bites.

Even more surprising? You are enjoying reading a post about eating sandwiches. Ha!

the fastest long week ever

This has been a very long up and down week, and I can't believe it's already over.

We started out on Sunday evening with an exciting experience: Lilian vomiting all into her car seat. It amazes me how take-apartable and washable they make those things. The stomach bug quickly moved on to me, then Keith, and fortunately was done by late Wednesday. In the meantime, Lilian and I still managed to have fun in the sunshine, running around Church St.

Thursday was back to normal, and Lili and I hit up the Firehouse Art Center for some toddler open art time. I'll have to remember to take pictures next time, because it was fun and funny and lots of creative kids around. We also met a nice granny with her grandson and will have to work out a playdate with them sometime soon.

Today is a dreary and rainy day, and we have spent it all indoors. To have some fun and "see" the people we miss and love, Lilian and I watched our wedding video! She loved it! Thanks, Steve.

I've also been on the phone almost all day to different realtors. We are meeting with 3 different buyers agents... Wish us luck!

More fun times

Spring seems to have sprung here in Northern Vermont, with several days in a row of 40+ temperatures and very little snow left in hard to find places. We have had a great fun weekend so far, with a fun crochet class for me, and family bike/unicycle ride into downtown along the waterfront bikepath yesterday. Lilian has seemingly grown up a lot in the past few weeks, and she plays well independently (most of the time), and can be seen here with a stack of blocks that she stacked all by herself!!! She also has learned the letter "T" of all things. Not much else to report, but we're definitely feeling a bit of spring fever!
